This National Guard position is for a **ALLIED TRADES WORKER**, Position Description Number **D1220000**and is part of the **WY Combined Support Maintenance Shop**, National Guard.

**WYOMING ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:** This is a Title 32 Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Wyoming Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Wyoming Army National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

### Responsibilities
This position is located in a Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Combined Support Maintenance Shop (CSMS). The primary purpose of this position is to assist higher graded workers in performing work in the skilled trades' occupations in support of maintenance functions. Engages in joint operations with higher graded workers. Rotates through trades areas to gain experience.
As a **ALLIED TRADES WORKER**, **WG**-**5801**-**8**, you will:
(1) Perform complicated skilled trades tasks in any Allied Trades Shops.
(2) Repair mobile equipment metal body components such as fenders, panels, hooks, truck beds.
(3) Paint a wide variety of vehicles using standard methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying by the use of coating materials that are prepared according to directions, and by the application of coating techniques that assure surface is fully coated, protected, and free from drips and runs.
(4) Modify, repair and make canvas parts such as truck tarpaulin, machinery and equipment covers.
(5) Construct and repair boxes, pallets, wood bracing used in shipping and storage.

Open to US Army, Army Reserves, and Army Nat'l Guard military mbrs only
Must be assessed into WY ARNG before appt. May take up to 120 days.
Must become a member of the Wyoming Army Nat'l Guard before appt.
Must submit ERB or DA Fm 2-1 with application

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT).
The Selected applicant must complete an "I-9, Employment Verification" and a "Declaration of Relatives in the Wyoming Military Department" prior to the appointment date.
Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses.
Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these military incentives.
Acceptance of a permanent or indefinite position will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS).
Relocation expenses will not be paid by the Government unless noted in the Announcement.
Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a Technician.
Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f).
### Qualifications
Must possess experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work.
Must possess at least 12 months experience or training using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs; experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories; experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments; experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships; and experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
**NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience listed on resume will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position.** Applicants must provide from (e.g. 02/2014 - 03/2016 **or** Feb 2014 - Mar 2016) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume.
**MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:** Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.
